A quick and easy frozen watermelon margarita recipe perfect for summer gatherings, combining fresh watermelon, tequila, lime, and a touch of sweetness for a refreshing and balanced cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and chilled
  • 1 cup (240 ml) tequila blanco
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 23 tablespoons agave syrup or honey
  • 3 cups ice cubes
  • Salt for rimming glasses (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Watermelon wedge for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups (roughly 600 grams) of seedless watermelon into cubes and chill for at least an hour if possible.
  2. Squeeze about 1/2 cup (120 ml) of fresh lime juice from 4-5 medium limes, straining out seeds and pulp.
  3. In a high-speed blender, combine the watermelon cubes, tequila blanco, triple sec, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, and ice cubes.
  4. Blend on high until smooth and slushy, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more agave or honey if desired; blend briefly again.
  6. If too thick, add a splash of cold water or lime juice to loosen.
  7. Pour the blended margarita into a large pitcher.
  8. Optional: Rub a lime wedge around the rims of serving glasses and dip into coarse salt.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh mint leaves or a small watermelon wedge on the rim.

Notes

Chill watermelon cubes and lime juice before blending for best texture. Adjust sweetness gradually to avoid overpowering the fresh flavors. Use pulse blending if your blender crushes ice too quickly to avoid watery texture. Leftover mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours without ice; add fresh ice and blend before serving.
