A quick and satisfying snack featuring crisp apple slices topped with warm caramel sauce and a smooth peanut butter drizzle, balanced with a pinch of sea salt for a perfect sweet and savory treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large apples (Granny Smith preferred, or Honeycrisp/Fuji), washed and thinly sliced
  • ½ cup store-bought caramel sauce (or homemade)
  • ¼ cup creamy peanut butter (natural, no added sugar or salt)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (dairy or plant-based) to thin peanut butter
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped peanuts or pecans (optional)
  • Light dusting of cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the apples into thin, uniform rounds or wedges about ⅛ to ¼ inch thick (3-6 mm). Arrange the slices in a single layer on a large serving plate, slightly overlapping to resemble nachos.
  2. Place ½ cup of caramel sauce in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 15-second intervals, stirring gently between each, until the caramel is warm and pourable but not too hot. Alternatively, warm over low heat on the stove, stirring constantly.
  3. In a small bowl, add ¼ cup creamy peanut butter and 1 tablespoon of milk. Whisk or stir vigorously until smooth and slightly thinner. Add more milk by the teaspoon if needed to achieve a pourable consistency without being runny.
  4. Drizzle the warm caramel evenly over the arranged apple slices. Using a spoon or small piping bag, drizzle the peanut butter mixture over the caramel layer in thin ribbons.
  5. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and, if using, chopped peanuts or pecans over the top. Add a light dusting of cinnamon if desired.
  6. Serve immediately while the caramel is still warm and the apples are crisp.

Notes

Use thin apple slices for best texture. Warm caramel gently to avoid burning. Thin peanut butter with milk gradually to avoid lumps. Serve immediately for best crispness. Lemon juice can prevent apple browning. Variations include using different nut butters or adding cinnamon to caramel.
