Fresh Lake Day Cooler Snack Box - featured image

A simple, fresh, and reliable snack box featuring no-melt cheese, crackers, and fresh produce, perfect for lake days and summer outings.

Ingredients

  • No-melt cheese (aged cheddar or gouda), sliced into 1/2 inch cubes or slices
  • Sturdy crackers (multigrain or water crackers)
  • Fresh grapes, washed
  • Cucumber slices, thinly sliced (about 1/8 inch thick)
  • Cherry tomatoes (optional)
  • Mixed nuts (almonds or cashews)
  • Pitted green or black olives (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary sprigs)

Instructions

  1. Slice the no-melt cheese into bite-sized cubes or thin slices about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Wash grapes and cherry tomatoes thoroughly. Slice cucumbers into thin rounds about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Divide mixed nuts and pitted olives into small containers or silicone cups to keep flavors separate.
  4. Line the cooler or lunch box with a clean napkin or paper towel to absorb moisture.
  5. Place the sliced cheese on one side and crackers wrapped separately or in a container nearby to maintain crispness.
  6. Arrange cucumber slices, grapes, and cherry tomatoes spaced out to avoid crushing. Tuck in containers of nuts and olives.
  7. Garnish with a few sprigs of fresh thyme or rosemary on top.
  8. Place an ice pack or frozen water bottle inside the cooler to keep everything fresh. Close securely and keep refrigerated until ready to go.

Notes

Keep crackers wrapped separately to avoid sogginess. Use a sharp knife for clean cheese slices. Pack snack box close to departure time to maintain freshness. Use ice pack or frozen water bottle to keep cheese firm and grapes crisp. Substitute ingredients as needed for dietary preferences.
