These easy mini Caprese skewers combine juicy cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves drizzled with a homemade balsamic glaze, making a quick, fresh, and crowd-pleasing party snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2025 cherry tomatoes, ripe and juicy
  • 2025 fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), small size
  • 2025 fresh basil leaves, whole
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2025 toothpicks or mini skewers

Instructions

  1. Make the Balsamic Glaze: Pour ½ cup balsamic vinegar and 1 tablespoon honey into a small saucepan. Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reduces and thickens to a syrupy consistency (about 10-15 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Ingredients: Rinse and dry cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. Drain mozzarella balls well. Cut mozzarella in half if larger than tomatoes.
  3. Assemble the Skewers: Thread one cherry tomato, one basil leaf (folded if large), and one mozzarella ball onto each toothpick or mini skewer. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  4. Season and Drizzle: Arrange skewers on a serving platter. Lightly sprinkle with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil if desired.
  5. Finish with the Glaze: Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the skewers just before serving. Warm the glaze gently if prepared ahead.

Notes

Use room temperature tomatoes and mozzarella for best flavor. Assemble skewers shortly before serving to keep basil fresh and prevent sogginess. Homemade balsamic glaze is preferred for richer flavor. Reheat glaze gently if it hardens. Optional olive oil drizzle adds richness.
