This recipe delivers crispy, flavorful salmon fillets coated in a sticky honey garlic glaze, cooked quickly and easily in the air fryer for a perfect weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (about 6 ounces or 170 grams each)
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or preferred local brand)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (or garlic powder as substitute)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Freshly cracked ground black pepper, to taste
  • Red pepper flakes, optional, a pinch
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish
  • Toasted sesame seeds, optional, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and 1 teaspoon rice vinegar until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season lightly with freshly cracked black pepper and, if desired, a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  3. Using a pastry brush or spoon, generously brush the honey garlic glaze over the skin side and flesh side of each fillet.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it run empty for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket without overlapping. Cook for 7-9 minutes, checking at 7 minutes for doneness (opaque and flakes easily).
  6. Optional: For extra sticky glaze, brush a little more honey garlic sauce on the salmon after 5 minutes of cooking and continue air frying until done.
  7. Remove salmon carefully. Sprinkle sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds on top before serving.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before glazing to ensure crispy skin. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to prevent steaming. Use fresh garlic for best flavor. Preheat air fryer for crispy texture. Adjust honey amount to control sweetness and prevent burning. For thicker fillets, add 1-2 minutes cooking time. Leftovers reheat well in air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes.
