A comforting warm apple cider with a sweet caramel rim and a cinnamon stick for a cozy, flavorful drink perfect for chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) apple cider
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • ½ cup (120 ml) caramel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 46 whole cloves
  • Zest of 1 medium orange
  • ½ cup (120 ml) water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour the caramel sauce into a shallow bowl or ramekin. Dip the rims of your glasses into the caramel, twisting gently to coat evenly. Set glasses upright on a parchment-lined tray and let the caramel set for about 10 minutes.
  2. Pour apple cider into a saucepan. Add brown sugar, whole cloves, and orange zest. Add water if a lighter cider is preferred.
  3. Heat over medium-low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring gently occasionally. Do not boil.
  4. Add cinnamon sticks to the warm cider and let steep for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness with more brown sugar if needed. Add more water if the cider is too strong.
  6. Pour the warm cider into the caramel-rimmed glasses. Place a cinnamon stick in each glass for stirring and garnish.
  7. Hold the glass by the base to avoid melting the caramel too fast. Sip slowly and enjoy.

Notes

Chill glasses before dipping in caramel to help it set better. Use medium-low heat to avoid bitterness. Add cinnamon sticks just before serving to prevent overpowering flavor. Prepare cider base ahead and reheat gently. Dip glasses and add caramel rim fresh before serving.
