A quick and easy crowd-pleasing snack featuring little smokies simmered in a sweet and tangy grape jelly and barbecue sauce glaze, perfect for parties or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds (900g) pre-cooked little smokies sausages
  • 1 cup (320g) grape jelly
  • 1 cup (240ml) barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon (1g) garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon (1g) onion powder
  • Pinch of freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine grape jelly, barbecue sauce, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and fully blended (about 3 minutes).
  2. Place little smokies into the crockpot. Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the sausages, coating them well. Stir gently if needed without breaking the sausages (about 2 minutes).
  3. Cover the crockpot and set to low heat. Cook for 2 to 3 hours, stirring gently at the 2-hour mark to coat the sausages evenly.
  4. After about 3 hours, check that the sauce is glossy and sticky. If too runny, remove the lid and cook on high for an additional 15-20 minutes to thicken.
  5. Serve warm directly from the crockpot or keep on the warm setting until ready to serve.

Notes

Resist stirring too often to avoid breaking the sausages. Use good-quality barbecue sauce for balanced flavor. If sauce is too watery, finish cooking with lid off to thicken. Can be prepared ahead and reheated gently.
