  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (25g)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Vegetable oil or canola oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the breading stations: In one shallow bowl, mix flour with salt and black pepper. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and basil.
  2. Coat the cheese sticks: Dredge each mozzarella stick in the flour mixture, shake off excess, dip into beaten eggs, then roll in breadcrumb mixture pressing gently. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb step once more for a double coating. Place coated sticks on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C) to a depth of about 2 inches.
  4. Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches of 4-5 for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on a wire rack.
  5. Serve immediately with marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dip.

Notes

Freeze the breaded sticks for at least 1 hour before frying to prevent cheese from leaking. Maintain oil temperature at 350°F (175°C) for best results.
