A quick and easy homemade snack featuring crispy French bread topped with pizza sauce, melted mozzarella, and crispy pepperoni, ready in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sturdy French bread loaf (baguette or country-style bread), about 10-12 inches
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) pizza sauce
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups (100150 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2025 pepperoni slices
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • Optional toppings: red pepper flakes, dried oregano or basil, grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick.
  3. Brush the cut sides lightly with olive oil.
  4. Spread pizza sauce evenly over both halves, about 1/4 cup (60 ml) per half.
  5. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce, about 1/2 to 3/4 cup (50-75 g) per half.
  6. Arrange pepperoni slices evenly on top in a single layer.
  7. Optionally sprinkle dried oregano, red pepper flakes, or grated Parmesan.
  8. Place the halves on a baking sheet, cut side up, and bake for 8 to 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly, pepperoni edges are crispy, and bread crust is golden and crunchy.
  9. Remove carefully with a spatula or tongs and let cool for 1-2 minutes.
  10. Slice each half into smaller pieces and serve warm.

Notes

Brush the bread with olive oil to prevent sogginess and promote a crispy crust. For extra crispy pepperoni, place slices on paper towels before assembling or broil for the last 1-2 minutes while watching closely. Use freshly shredded mozzarella for better melting. To reheat leftovers, bake at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispness; avoid microwaving.
