These crispy Cuban sandwich sliders with pickles combine melting Swiss cheese, roasted pork, ham, and tangy pickles on buttery slider rolls for a nostalgic, crowd-pleasing snack or meal perfect for gatherings.

  • 12 slider rolls (soft but sturdy)
  • 1 pound roast pork, thinly sliced or shredded
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese (Jarlsberg or Emmental recommended)
  • 12 thin slices dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 12 thin slices deli-style smoked ham
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Slice the slider rolls in half horizontally. Thinly slice pork and ham if not pre-sliced. Cut dill pickles into thin, even slices. Set out Swiss cheese slices and soften butter.
  2. Lay out bottom halves of rolls on a baking sheet. Spread a thin layer of yellow mustard on each bottom half. Optionally, spread mayonnaise on the top half. Layer ham, roast pork, Swiss cheese, and a pickle slice. Top with the other half of the roll and press gently to secure.
  3. Spread softened butter evenly on the outside of both top and bottom of each slider.
  4. Heat skillet or panini press over medium heat. Place sliders in pan and press down firmly with grill press or heavy skillet. Cook about 5-7 minutes per side, flipping carefully, until bread is golden and crisp and cheese is melted. If using panini press, cook about 8-10 minutes until browned and warmed through.
  5. Remove sliders from heat, let cool briefly, then serve immediately.

Notes

Pat pickles dry before assembling to prevent sogginess. Use steady, even pressure when pressing sliders to avoid crushing fillings. Butter the outside of rolls generously for a golden, crispy crust. Medium heat is best to melt cheese without burning bread. Sliders can be assembled ahead and refrigerated but cook just before serving for best texture. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for 2 days and reheat in skillet or oven to maintain crispiness.
