This creamy chocolate fondue fountain recipe delivers a smooth, luscious chocolate dip perfect for celebrations. Easy to prepare and crowd-pleasing, it creates a memorable experience with simple ingredients and a silky texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz (450 g) high-quality semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp (28 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) light corn syrup (optional but recommended)
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Dipping items: fresh strawberries, pineapple chunks, banana slices, marshmallows (regular or mini), cookie pieces or biscotti, rice crispy treats or pretzels

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace (10 minutes): Set up your chocolate fountain on a sturdy, level surface near an outlet. Wash, cut, and arrange dipping items on platters within arm’s reach.
  2. Melt the chocolate (10 minutes): Chop chocolate chips if needed. In a double boiler over simmering water, combine chocolate, heavy cream, butter, and corn syrup. Stir constantly with a heatproof spatula until smooth and glossy—no lumps allowed! Alternatively, microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring in between.
  3. Add flavorings (1 minute): Stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  4. Test the consistency (2 minutes): The chocolate should be pourable but not too runny. If too thick, add a splash more cream; if too thin, add a few more chopped chocolate pieces and stir until melted.
  5. Fill the fountain basin (2 minutes): Pour the warm chocolate mixture into the fountain’s basin. Turn the fountain on, starting at the lowest speed. Watch as the chocolate begins to flow and cascade down the tiers.
  6. Adjust heat and speed (5 minutes): Keep the chocolate warm enough to flow but not so hot it burns. Adjust the pump speed for a steady, smooth waterfall. If the chocolate clogs or stops, turn off the fountain, stir gently, and restart.
  7. Start dipping and enjoy! Gather your guests, hand out skewers, and let the fun begin. Keep a damp cloth nearby to wipe any drips or spills.

Notes

Use light corn syrup and butter to prevent crystallization and keep chocolate glossy. Keep fountain clean and dry before use to avoid chocolate seizing. If chocolate thickens during use, gently reheat and pour back into fountain. Use chocolate chips made for melting to avoid grainy texture. Adjust cream amount for white chocolate. For dairy-free, use canned coconut milk and dairy-free chocolate chips.
