A quick and easy recipe for soft, chewy monster cookies packed with colorful M&Ms and melty chocolate chips, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups (312 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (227 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200 grams) packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (175 grams) M&Ms
  • 1 cup (170 grams) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (90 grams) rolled oats (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed or folding in with a spatula until just combined.
  6. Fold in the rolled oats, M&Ms, and chocolate chips gently.
  7. Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop 2-tablespoon-sized mounds about 2 inches apart on the baking sheets. Do not flatten.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and golden but centers are still soft.
  9. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

If dough feels too soft or sticky, chill for 15 minutes before baking to control spread. Rotate baking sheets halfway through baking for even browning. Avoid overmixing to keep cookies tender. Let cookies cool on sheets before transferring to maintain chewiness.
